Fisheries Science is concerned with the catching, conservation ,  managing, marketing and processing of fish  and is treated as one of the most important areas in the field of science .This field is an interdisciplinary one and needs to collect information from different fields like Oceanography, Management ,Economics , Ecology and biology,
Both Bachelor of Fisheries Science and B.Sc. (Fisheries) are almost same. The course curriculum is designed to study various aspects relating to breeding of fish along with farming and husbandry of important fishes and aquatic organisms. The course of study also includes Bachelor of Fisheries Science in marine environment, fresh water and brackish water. Bachelor of Fisheries Science or B.Sc. (fisheries) is a 4 year undergraduate course conducted as 8 semesters.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Fisheries Science program
                             A candidate with a pass in the twelfth standard with the optional subjects as biology and physics along with chemistry can only apply for the test. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi conducts an all India level entrance test for admitting students who are eligible and interested in B.Sc. (Fisheries) or B.F.Sc degree to the Central Institute of Fisheries. Those candidates who are planning to do B.Sc. (Fisheries) or B.F.Sc degree can apply for the exam and score good marks to ensure their admissions in these central institutes. The candidate appearing for the course should be above 17 years of age and should not exceed 20 years.

              Entrance test for Bachelor of Fisheries Science programs are conducted at both national level as well as university level and those candidates willing to do the course can take the test as per their interest and convenience. The application for the Bachelor of Fisheries Science examination can be collected by post or through website .The candidates who reside near by the university or college can collect it directly from the office. The most important thing the candidate should keep in mind is that the completed application should reach the office of the director of the examination before the date as specified in the notification.
